Cyprus’ 2025 Public Holidays: Dates and Extended Breaks

With multiple Tuesday and Monday holidays, many travelers will seize the chance to bridge weekends into short vacations.

Today, we’re unveiling the official list of Cyprus’ public holidays for 2025, offering a first look at the year’s key dates and extended weekends. The schedule begins with New Year’s Day on Wednesday, January 1, and continues with Epiphany observed on Monday, January 6—two holidays that often prompt a mini winter break.

March and April Highlights

A series of holidays in the spring could create opportunities for extended getaways. Green Monday (Kathara Deftera), the start of Lent for Orthodox Christians, falls on Monday, March 3, setting the stage for the Easter period.

Greek Independence Day is observed on Tuesday, March 25, followed by the EOKA Anniversary on Tuesday, April 1.

The Easter break itself is later in the month, with Good Friday on April 18, Holy Saturday on April 19, and Easter Sunday on April 20. Post-holiday travel may extend through Easter Monday on April 21.

May Day and Summer Breaks

Workers across the country are set to enjoy May 1 (Labor Day) on a Thursday, which many anticipate turning into a four-day weekend.

The next major holiday, Holy Spirit Monday (Agiou Pnevmatos) on June 9, arrives just as summer travel kicks into gear.

Meanwhile, the Feast of the Assumption (Koimisi tis Theotokou) on Friday, August 15 promises another convenient long weekend during the peak vacation season.

Autumn and Christmas Observances

Autumn brings another notable holiday to the calendar, with the “No” Day (Ohi Day) on Tuesday, October 28, commemorating Greece’s refusal to yield to Axis forces in World War II.

Cyprus will round out the year’s holidays with two consecutive days off for Christmas: Thursday, December 25, and Friday, December 26.

With multiple Tuesday and Monday holidays, many travelers will seize the chance to bridge weekends into short vacations—an especially popular approach during the Easter and Christmas seasons.
