The Number of Marriages and Divorces in Cyprus
Statistical Report Highlights Ageing Population, Migration Trends, and Rising Divorce Rates
The population in the Government-controlled area of Cyprus was estimated at 966,400 at the end of 2023, up from 949,100 at the end of 2022, marking a 1.8% increase, according to demographic statistics published by the Statistical Service.
In 2023, 15.3% of the population were children under 15 years, while 17.7% were aged 65 and above, compared to 22.3% and 11.3% in 2000. The gradual increase in the proportion of older individuals and the decline in the proportion of children highlight the ageing process of Cyprus' population.
