The jury of the 28th European Shooting Stars program, which highlights emerging European actors, announced its top ten selections for 2025 a few months ago. Among them was Cypriot actress Marina Makris, who captivated the jury with her "Mediterranean magnetism" and was described as "a brilliant, intelligent actress with a deep, intense gaze and an innate female strength, as if she could carry the world on her shoulders." Four days ago, Makris held her award, officially recognized as one of Europe’s most promising talents.

The acclaimed Cypriot actress and performer recently won the "Best Actress" award at the International Film Festival Cinematic Days 2024 for her remarkable performance in Adonis Florides' drama film. Her growing recognition in the industry solidifies her status as a rising star in European cinema.

The ten selected European Shooting Stars for 2025 are: Marina Makris (Cyprus), Besir Zeciri (Denmark), Maarja Johanna Mägi (Estonia), Devrim Lingnau (Germany), Elín Hall (Iceland), Kārlis Arnolds Avots (Latvia), Šakethuandičius (Latvia), Škethuandičius (Montenegro), Vicente Wallenstein (Portugal), and Frida Gustavsson (Sweden).
