Study UK Alumni Awards Cyprus 2025: Culture & Creativity Award
On 6 March 2025, the Study UK Alumni Awards Cyprus 2025 ceremony took place at the residence of the British High Commissioner to Cyprus. The event was hosted by British High Commissioner Michael Tatham and Director of the British Council in Greece and Cyprus, Anastasia Andritsou, in the presence of Stephen Doughty, UK Minister of State for Europe and North America.
Among the distinguished alumni who were honoured, Angeliki Athanasiadi stood out, receiving the Culture & Creativity Award for her contribution to visual communication, social design, and education. A graduate of Middlesex University, Angeliki Athanasiadi is a visual communication designer, author, and columnist, co-founder of the World Industrial Design Association (WIDA) and founder of Graphic Stories Cyprus, a platform that promotes design and visual storytelling as tools for social change.
The Study UK Alumni Awards recognise graduates of UK universities who have achieved significant success in their fields and made a positive impact in their communities. This year’s winners in Cyprus are:
• Culture and Creativity Award – Angeliki Athanasiadi, Middlesex University
• Business and Innovation Award – Andreas Angeli, University of Dundee
• Science and Sustainability Award – Dr Kyriaki Michailidou, University of Cambridge & University of Oxford
• Social Action Award – Şadiye Işısal, University of Essex & SOAS, University of London
Award winners have the opportunity to raise their international profile, expand their professional networks, and enhance their careers.
The British Council offers each winner a prize of up to £1,500 for a professional development opportunity of their choice.
The selection process was carried out by a distinguished panel of judges, including:

This recognition marks a significant milestone in Angeliki Athanasiadi’s career, as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of Graphic Stories, reaffirming the power of design as a medium for dialogue and social change.
