Cyprus to Receive Mobile Desalination Unit from UAE to Meet 2025 Water Needs

Christodoulides Announces Free Provision of Desalination Unit as Part of Cyprus–UAE Strategic Cooperation

Cyprus will cover its water needs for 2025 with the help of a mobile desalination unit provided by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Nikos Christodoulides announced during an interview with the television channel ANT1.

In a preview segment of the interview, released on Wednesday evening, the President stated that the mobile desalination unit will be donated free of charge to the Republic of Cyprus by the UAE. He emphasized the importance of this cooperation, noting that it highlights both the strength of Cyprus's foreign relations and its domestic policy priorities.

President Christodoulides explained that the Republic of Cyprus submitted an official request to the UAE. “The President of the UAE decided to provide this mobile unit free of charge to the Republic of Cyprus, within the framework of the excellent political relations we share,” he said.

He also reminded viewers that the UAE was a key partner—alongside the United States—in the implementation of the Amalthea humanitarian corridor.

The President confirmed that the desalination unit will be delivered promptly, ensuring that Cyprus's water supply needs for 2025 are fully met.
