Sequela Putting Cyprus on the Map for Sustainable Innovation
The Company Was Named the Sole Winner Based in Cyprus in Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 program Impact Category.
This recognition underscores Sequela’s commitment to ESG-driven innovation in the health sector.
Sequela, a leading innovator at the intersection of climate and health, has been selected as the only Cyprus-based winner in the prestigious Impact category of Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Middle East & Cyprus program’s fourth edition.
The Impact category recognizes companies that prioritize ESG considerations in their operations, strategies and missions. For the first time this year, nominees were evaluated by an independent jury across three key dimensions: impact, excellence, and implementation, following a structured pitching process.
Sequela's inclusion in the Impact category underscores its role as a catalyst for sustainability in the healthcare industry. Climate change is the single biggest threat to human health, yet the health sector is a major contributor to climate change. At a time when healthcare accounts for nearly 5% of global emissions - more than traditionally scrutinized sectors such as aviation (2.5%) and shipping (3%) - Sequela is tackling one of healthcare's most overlooked challenges: its environmental footprint.

Many health institutions face a significant burden in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data tied to healthcare’s 2 gigatonnes of CO2e emissions. The process is often complex and time-consuming, making it challenging to meet compliance requirements, manage rising costs, and build long-term climate resilience. Sequela’s data-driven platform eases this burden by helping healthcare organizations (i.e., hospitals, clinics) track, understand, and reduce emissions efficiently, with a unique focus on health-related emissions from sources and systems specific to clinical operations and care delivery.
The fourth edition of the Technology Fast 50 program received over 200 applications from across the Middle East and Cyprus, marking a significant milestone in the region’s startup ecosystem. Cyprus accounted for 16% of applications, reflecting the country’s growing influence in the technology sector. Full report available at https://deloi.tt/43UuKtV.
