DIMAL: The New Party Making Its Official Debut on the Cypriot Political Scene

Democratic Change Party to Approve Political Declaration Focused on Human Rights and Cyprus Settlement

Based on core principles of respecting and protecting human rights, condemning all war crimes and crimes against humanity, promoting democracy, transparency, and accountability, advancing social justice, ensuring sustainable development and environmental protection, and upholding the rule of law that respects citizens, the Democratic Change Party (DIMAL) is expected to approve its political declaration on Monday afternoon during an extended meeting of its 20-member interim Executive Committee, chaired by Christos Clerides.

In its political declaration, DIMAL expresses the belief that "politics must serve people, society, and the environment," emphasizing that the resolution of the Cyprus issue remains its "highest national priority."

The party supports "a just, viable, and functional solution to the Cyprus problem, based on Human Rights and not on the current model of a Bizonal Bicommunal Federation with political equality as promoted," while stating its vision for "a free and united Cyprus, without occupying armies, guarantees, or foreign intervention rights—a homeland belonging to all its lawful citizens without discrimination."

"The Democratic Change Party is the response to the need for a new political ethos, embracing transparency, democracy, social justice, sustainable development, and the rule of law," the political declaration adds. It further envisions "a Cyprus that respects its citizens, supports families and entrepreneurship, and invests in education, technology, and the environment."
