Illegal Concrete Works at Ombrella Beach in Pervolia

Ecological Movement Cyprus calls for investigation into suspected unlicensed activities that may harm protected coastal environment.

The Ecological Movement Cyprus has raised concerns over alleged unauthorized construction activities involving the use of concrete at Ombrella Beach in Pervolia, Larnaca District. The group claims that these works are being carried out without the required permits or approvals from the competent authorities.

In a letter addressed to Assistant District Officer Konstantinos Karmellos, the Movement expressed its “grave concern” over what it describes as illegal interventions at the coastal site.

According to the organization, it has received reports indicating that concrete works are taking place directly on the beach, in apparent violation of environmental legislation and coastal protection zone regulations.

“These activities may be causing irreversible damage to the area’s natural environment,” the letter states, urging Mr. Karmellos to immediately investigate and inspect the site, and to take all necessary actions to halt any unlawful interventions.

The Ecological Movement is calling for coordinated action to prevent further environmental harm and to ensure that all activities within protected beach zones comply with existing laws and regulations.
