Andreas Demetriades Announces Candidacy for KEVE Presidency
He Aims to Focus On Addressing Challenges Affecting the Sectors of Industry, Commerce, Tourism, and Services
Andreas Demetriades, Vice President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), has officially declared his candidacy for the Chamber's presidency.
His primary goal is to further strengthen the Chamber’s selfless contribution to the community, enhancing its effectiveness, voice, and presence, ultimately boosting the Cypriot economy. He aims to focus on addressing challenges affecting the sectors of industry, commerce, tourism, and services.
Convinced that Cyprus "possesses the potential to become an international regional hub for business, finance, tertiary education, and high-level medical services", Demetriades is "ready to work diligently and decisively". He envisions the CCCI playing a pivotal role in initiating bold reforms and changes.
Stavros Stavrou, the President of the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is also contending for the presidency.
Andreas Demetriades is a lawyer and economist with a B.Sc.(Hons) in Industry and Trade and an M.Sc. in Operational Research from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), in addition to an LL.B. from the University of London. He heads the law firm ANDREAS CHR. DEMETRIADES LLC and serves as its Chairman.
In his role as Vice President of the CCCI, Demetriades also leads the Board of Directors of the Pancyprian Association of Major Developments and is a board member of several companies. His past positions include President of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (1990-1992, 2014-2020), President of the Paphos Regional Tourism Development and Promotion Company (2014-2017), and several other prominent roles in various organizations and boards.
