Andreas Papakonstantinou Appointed Auditor General - Who Is Who
The Appointment Ceremony Will Take Place on Wednesday, October 2, at 8:30 Am at the Presidential Palace
The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, has appointed Andreas Papakonstantinou as the Auditor General of the Republic.
According to a statement from the Presidency, the appointment ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 2, at 8:30 AM at the Presidential Palace.
"The experience and qualifications of Mr. Papakonstantinou as a Certified Auditor and Certified Internal Auditor, along with his background in both the private and public sectors, provide assurances for the important duties assigned to him," the announcement stated.
It further emphasized that the role, work, and institution of the Audit Office are of exceptional importance for ensuring transparency, public accountability, combating corruption, and upholding good governance.
"Mr. Papakonstantinou assumes the duties of Auditor General during a time when he will be called upon to support and contribute significantly to the modernization of the Audit Office, as promoted through President Christodoulides' reform program, which includes the establishment of an Audit Council," it added.
Andreas Papakonstantinou holds a BA in Accounting, Finance, and Economics, a Master's in Business Administration, and a degree in Pastoral and Social Theology.
Andreas Papakonstantinou was born in Nicosia in 1971. He holds a BA in Accounting, Finance, and Economics from the University of Essex. He earned his MBA from the University of Cyprus and also has a degree in Pastoral and Social Theology from Aristotle University.
He is a Certified Auditor from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and a Certified Internal Auditor from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). He worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers and later at the Cyprus Stock Exchange. Since 2006, he has been employed by the Health Insurance Organization, where he holds the position of Director.
On May 23, 2024, the Cabinet appointed him as the General Director of the Health Insurance Organization.
