Cypriot Scientist Kyriakos Veresies Honored in Sri Lanka for His Work
A Recognition of Dedication to Mental Health and Addiction Prevention
In a prestigious ceremony in Colombo, Sri Lanka's capital, Spinnaker International, a London-based International Training Center, bestowed a significant honor on Dr. Kyriakos Veresies, a professor at Philips University. They named him an honorary professor in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field.
According to a KENTHEA press release, Professor John White, the Center's Director, praised Dr. Veresies while awarding him the diploma. He highlighted Dr. Veresies' significant impact on addiction prevention and mental health, not only in Cyprus but globally.
Mr. Chaminda De Silva, the Center's founder and executive director, expressed gratitude to Dr. Veresies for his innovative work in implementing prevention programs in Sri Lanka. He also acknowledged Dr. Veresies' role in fostering dynamic collaborations with KENTHEA in Cyprus.
In his address, Dr. Veresies expanded on his work in addiction prevention and mental health. He also discussed the persistent traumatic stress affecting the Cypriot populace, stemming from the ongoing occupation and the lingering uncertainty of unresolved political issues.
During his visit, Dr. Veresies toured various educational centers. He observed firsthand the implementation of the prevention programs he has been instrumental in developing.
