Panagiotis Trisokkas Appointed as Chairman of Cyprus National Betting Authority

The Cabinet Appoints New Members to the National Betting Authority and the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission

Panagiotis Trisokkas, a senior banking executive, has been appointed by the Council of Ministers as the new Chairman of the National Betting Authority’s Board of Directors during yesterday’s meeting.

The Cabinet also appointed the following individuals as members of the new Board:

  • Angelos Efthymiou, representing the General Accounting Office of the Republic

  • Eleni Pitta, representing the Ministry of Finance

  • Dimitris Grivas, Director of a private company

  • Giorgos Loizou, Chartered Accountant

  • Andreas Anastasiadis, representing the Ministry of Justice and Public Order

  • Andri Tasou, Legal Expert

The term of the new Betting Authority Board is three years, starting from October 9, 2024, and ending on October 8, 2027.

Additionally, the Council of Ministers appointed Loukas Lagoudis, a Risk Management Specialist, as a member of the Board of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission - CYSEC. Lagoudis will serve a five-year term, from October 9, 2024, to October 8, 2029.

Who Is Who

Panagiotis Trisokkas ran as a candidate in the most recent parliamentary elections in the Famagusta district, representing the Democratic Rally (DISY) party. Trisokkas holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in Business Administration.

Beyond his professional career in finance (Eurobank Cyprus), Trisokkas has had a remarkable career in basketball. He served as captain of the Cyprus National Team, Keravnos Strovolou, and Frederick University. His playing career included stints with ENP, Keravnos, Makedonikos, Achilleas, and AEK. He earned recognition as the best youth, emerging, and Cypriot basketball player during his time on the court.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Trisokkas has been actively involved in sports administration. He has served as a board member of the Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) and was a member of the Cyprus Olympic Committee (KOE). He also held leadership roles, including president of PASP, EEAK, and as a basketball coach, and he remains involved with the Cyprus Basketball Coaches Association.
