Sisters in Leadership: Andrea and Christiana Rotos Carry the Family Legacy Forward

Andrea and Christiana Rotos Share Insights on Family Business, Innovation, and Future Projects

For over 35 years, Rotos Group has been a driving force in Cyprus' real estate and construction landscape, distinguishing itself as one of the island's leading contractors and property developers. To learn more about their journey and vision for the future, FastForward sat down with Andrea and Christiana Rotos, the dynamic sisters who have continued to elevate the family business to new heights.

In this exclusive interview, the Rotos sisters share their insights into what inspired them to join the family business, and how their father's passion for construction influenced their decision. They discuss the unique challenges and rewarding experiences of their roles within Rotos Group, the key strategies behind the company's success, and their exciting future plans.

What inspired you both to join the family business, and how has your journey been so far in Rotos Group?

Our father's unwavering passion not only inspired us but also guided our decision to join the family business. From a young age, we knew that our careers would be intertwined with the family business, as his passion has made it a way of life for him.

Our father's unwavering passion not only inspired us but also guided our decision to join the family business

Our journey so far has been a fascinating learning experience. While family businesses present unique challenges, we were fortunate to have the freedom to make mistakes, face the consequences, and most importantly, learn from them.

Reflecting on that journey, what have been the key strategies behind Rotos Group's success and resilience over 35 years in the construction and property development industry?

At Rotos Group, we are committed to high goals, timeless values, and unwavering reliability. We prioritize putting people at the centre of our operations. We understand that achieving success requires hard, honest, and quality work. Our dedication to excellence has been fundamental to our success and resilience over the past 35 years and will continue to guide us in the future.

What are Rotos Group's plans for the future in terms of expansion, new services, or projects?

The group is actively involved in ongoing and upcoming development projects, both in the student accommodation sector and in the construction sector.

We will continue with large integrated developments, with sustainable architectural design and excellent construction quality, to build neighbourhoods that upgrade people's standard of living.

Our dedication to ensuring the buyer's timeless value is unwavering. Every year and more, we will ensure this through the bioclimatic approach, the use of ecological materials, the prudent management of natural resources, and the innovation that characterizes our buildings.

The new housing ecosystem will bring back the forgotten values of neighbourhood and family coexistence with nature that are absent from our daily lives

At this stage, we are building the Coeo residential complex on Gladstonos Street, next to Linear Park. This complex will offer buyers large units of apartments and houses in the centre of Nicosia.

The new housing ecosystem will bring back the forgotten values of neighbourhood and family coexistence with nature that are absent from our daily lives. It will soon be synonymous with the most modern trends for luxury housing in Cyprus, creating the next generation of Design Living.

At the same time, we are in the Permitting stage for a new project, a large development of the same private neighbourhood philosophy that we will soon announce.

In your opinion, what are the key qualities or skills needed to be successful in leadership roles within this industry?

A good leader should possess integrity, self-awareness, courage, respect, compassion, and resilience. They should also be adaptable and use their influence effectively while communicating the vision, showing gratitude, and collaborating effectively. In our industry, there may be a need for greater understanding.

Shifting focus slightly, given the current global economic trends and regional dynamics, how do you foresee the expectations and outlook for the real estate and property development sectors in Cyprus for 2024?

The challenges are the same globally and not only in the Cypriot economy. Inflation, interest rates, geopolitical developments, prolonged uncertainty in the energy sector, the accuracy of materials, and the lack of human resources are issues that we all share responsibility for. It is up to us, and the competent bodies, to find and implement effective solutions.

Lastly, among the projects that Rotos Group is currently undertaking, which one do you consider the most standout and why?

The Wargaming HQ, with its unique design and strategic location, is the group's most recognizable building. Although all our buildings are recognizable due to their distinctive architecture, this is a landmark building.
