Labour Minister Welcomes Agreement on Revision of Cmrd
Celebrating a pivotal success of the Cypriot EU Presidency, Labour Minister Marinos Moushouttas welcomed a provisional EU agreement updating safety rules and setting strict new exposure limits to protect millions of workers from hazardous substances.
A Cypriot EU Presidency Success
Labour and Social Insurance Minister, Marinos Moushouttas, ha welcomed the provisional agreement between the Council and the European Parliament on the sixth revision of the Carcinogenic, Mutagenic and Reproductive Toxicity Directive (CMRD).
A press release issued by the Ministry said that this constitutes a success of the Cyprus EU Presidency noting that the agreement strengthens the European framework for the protection of workers from dangerous substances, through the establishment of new occupational exposure limits and the updating of occupational safety and health rules, in accordance with the most modern scientific data.
Aligning Safety with Modern Science
Minister Moushouttas welcomed the achievement, stressing that it reflects our collective commitment to ensuring a high level of protection of workers against serious occupational health risks.
The Minister explained that the introduction of new occupational exposure limits ensures that the European legislative framework is in line with the latest scientific data and technological developments. He added that this will contribute to creating safer workplaces for millions of workers across Europe and will further strengthen the prevention of occupational diseases.
