Poll Shows Tight Race Between DISY and AKEL Ahead of 2026 Parliamentary Elections

Attorney General’s Office Remains at the Bottom of Public Trust Rankings

If parliamentary elections were held this Sunday, the two largest political parties in Cyprus, DISY and AKEL, would be separated by less than two percentage points. These findings come from the latest poll conducted by Rai Consultants and presented by Alpha Cyprus during its main news bulletin.

According to the survey, 41.9% of Cypriot voters remain undecided, indicating that the 2026 parliamentary elections are still far from their concerns. Among those expressing a preference, DISY would garner 16.2%, AKEL 15%, ELAM 8.4%, and DIKO 6.7%. The newly established VOLT party would secure 3.3%, emerging as the fifth political force. EDEK follows with 2.3% and the Green Party with 0.9%. 'Other Parties' option secures 4.4%.

One notable outcome is the absence of DIPA in the poll’s percentages, despite receiving 6.1% in the 2021 parliamentary elections.

Public Trust: High for GESY, Low for Political Parties

When asked about trust in institutions as they currently operate in Cyprus, 47% of respondents expressed trust in the General Healthcare System (GESY) and the Audit Office (38%). However, political parties received a dismal 62% distrust rate.

Other institutions also faced low levels of trust:

  • Attorney General’s Office: 53% negative response

  • Church: 45% negative response

  • Courts and Judges: 44% negative response
