Renovation Works on Track to Welcome Europe’s Top Basketball Athletes in August 2025
The renovation of "Spyros Kyprianou" Stadium in Limassol is progressing at a rapid pace in preparation for the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 tournament, set to take place next summer.
According to a press release, last Friday, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works Alexis Vafeades, along with the Director-General of the Department of Public Works, Lefteris Eleftheriou, visited the stadium. They were accompanied by the President of the Cyprus Basketball Federation, Andreas Mouzourides, to receive a detailed update on the project's progress from the contractor and project engineers.
The project's lead engineering consultant informed the attendees that 60% of the renovation work has been completed and that all timelines are being strictly followed. This ensures that the stadium will be fully prepared to host Europe’s top basketball athletes in August 2025.
During the visit, all stakeholders expressed their satisfaction with the progress made and emphasized the strong cooperation among all parties involved. There was a shared commitment to ensuring that "Spyros Kyprianou" Stadium meets the highest standards required for EuroBasket 2025, both in terms of sports infrastructure and visitor accommodation.
CBF President Andreas Mouzourides expressed his satisfaction with the project's progress, noting that it remains on schedule. “We are also grateful for the excellent collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Works and the Department of Public Works, whose leadership has dedicated countless hours to ensuring the project's successful completion,” he stated.
“The renovation of ‘Spyros Kyprianou’ Stadium is not just an investment for EuroBasket 2025 but a lasting legacy for Cypriot sports. We move forward with confidence and anticipation to provide a unique experience for athletes, fans, and visitors,” he added.
