Works For The Extension Of The Tombs Of The Kings Avenue In Paphos
Developments Are Soon Expected
Documents for a construction contract with an expected duration of 3.5 years will be prepared. By May, the selection of the contractor company for the extension project of the Tombs of the Kings Avenue is expected to be announced following the tender announcement by the public works, according to the President of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), George May.
Mr. May stated that the Public Works Department has announced a tender for the preparation of construction plans for the Tombs of the Kings Avenue (Chlorakas, Lempa, Kissonerga), with the deadline for submission of bids expiring on March 15, 2024.
The estimated date for the announcement of the results of the tender based on the tender announcement, he continued, is "weeks from the last deadline for the submission of bids, so by May, as the Minister himself has informed us, the selection of the contractor company is expected to be announced," Mr. May added.
He also emphasized that the terms of reference/technical specifications concern the preparation of construction plans and tender documents, adding that the duration of the contract has been set at 130 weeks from the date of commencement of the implementation of the contract, something that the Paphos CCI considers excessive.
However, as Mr. May explained, the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Works justified this due to the involvement of several government departments, authorities, and semi-governmental organizations such as the DLS, ETEK, SAPA, TAUV, etc.
Mr. May also pointed out that the contractor will need to prepare tender documents for a construction contract with an expected duration of 3.5 years. He also expressed the hope that the Public Works Department will soon proceed with the award of the contract to the successful bidder so that studies can start as soon as possible."
