Larnaca Welcomes New Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Strategic Initiatives by SAL and Petrolina to Enhance EV Infrastructure

Two new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have been installed in Larnaca. One is set up by the Larnaca Sewerage Board (SAL), and the other by Petrolina, a leading energy company.

SAL announced that, after receiving funding approval from the "Electromobility with 1000" Grant Program, it has installed an EV charging station at its headquarters. The station is now fully operational, offering free charging services to the public. Interested individuals can arrange charging times by contacting 24812980.

In a separate announcement, Petrolina revealed that its first ultra-fast EV charger in Cyprus began operation on Friday, November 24, at its service station in the new GSZ area in Larnaca. This charger, part of Petrolina's pcharge network, has a capacity of up to 150kW and is fully licensed with ISO/IEC 14443A/B, ISO/IEC 15693 safety certifications.

For the first week, until December 1st, charging at this station will be free during operating hours, with service station employees assisting EV users. Outside of operating hours, users can charge ad hoc by scanning the corresponding QR code on the charger.

Petrolina's pcharge, the new brand for its electromobility initiatives, represents the expansion of the company's strategic development into new energy sectors. Through pcharge, Petrolina offers a comprehensive solution for electromobility, including installation, maintenance, and management of charging points (Charge Point Operator), as well as mobility services (EMSP) involving payment methods, roaming, customer management, and vehicle fleet management systems.

The company also plans to develop a comprehensive network of ultra-fast and rapid chargers, covering all provinces of Cyprus at initially seven locations by the end of 2023.
