The study evaluates various factors, including weather conditions, internet speed, rental costs, and facilities catering to professionals, all of which digital nomads consider when selecting their destination.

With a total score of 47 points, Nicosia stands out as a digital nomad's dream among the top European cities. Noteworthy highlights from the study showcase Nicosia's Wi-Fi speed at a blazing 138.20 mb/s, a visa application cost of €71.18, a monthly visa fee of €3,559.25, an average monthly living cost per person at €769.38, €626.78 for a one-bedroom apartment rent, and an average restaurant meal cost of €12.19.

The study also accounts for the residents' happiness index, which stands at 6.22 according to a statement from the Nicosia Municipality. Following Nicosia on the list are Budapest, Zagreb, Athens, Lisbon, Tallinn, Valletta, and lastly, Reykjavik.

Mayor Constantinos Giorkadjis of Nicosia emphasized that the city's development projects are all imbued with the concept of "smart" planning, greatly facilitating digital nomadic work. He added that a substantial portion of the infrastructure for the "smart" city is nearing completion, with all smart systems set to be fully operational by year's end.

"We are transforming Nicosia into a hub for innovation and emerging businesses through the establishment of the Cyens Center of Excellence, a collaboration involving three state universities, Invest Cyprus, and foreign institutions such as the University of London and the Max Planck Institute for Informatics," he elaborated. He highlighted ongoing efforts to foster an "ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship, elevating Nicosia to a nucleus of entrepreneurial innovation."

The rise of "digital nomads," individuals capable of working remotely from anywhere in the world, has become a burgeoning trend in the realm of employment. Cyprus, particularly Nicosia, has become a favored destination for this new workforce. A recent study by Panache Cruises uncovered that Nicosia, with its 47-point total, has secured the third spot among the best European cities for those seeking a more digital nomadic way of life.

"Digital nomads" are individuals who are able to work remotely from any part of the globe. With this option becoming the norm for numerous companies worldwide, an increasing number of employees are seeking their ideal work destination from anywhere in the world. This trend, which was initially propelled by the COVID-19 pandemic's remote work policies, has led travel experts to compile comprehensive data in order to identify the top locations for digital nomads to settle down.
