CMMI Signs MoU with Companies from France and Cyprus
Collaboration Aims to Develop Cutting-Edge Technologies in Marine Robotics and Underwater Surveillance
The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), leading Cypriot electronics developer SignalGeneriX Ltd, and French companies ARKEOCEAN, a leader in AUV swarms, and LANEGO, an international development consultancy, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to exchange knowledge in maritime sectors and establish collaboration in maritime research and innovation, aiming to develop new innovative products, according to a press release.
The MoU was signed on Tuesday in Larnaca by Zacharias Siokouros, CEO of CMMI, Tasos Kounoudes, CEO of SignalGeneriX Ltd, Thierry Brizard, President of ARKEOCEAN, and Philippe Amar, President of LANEGO.
The parties will collaborate on projects of mutual interest to develop technologies in marine robotics, swarm systems, autonomous underwater vehicles, underwater detection, communications, and data processing for maritime traffic monitoring, critical infrastructure protection, and monitoring marine protected areas.
The press release states that the signing of the MoU paves the way for a promising future in research and innovation in critical areas, including underwater infrastructure monitoring, underwater data collection, processing and communication, environmental monitoring, artificial corals and reefs, marine health, aquaculture development, and underwater cultural heritage.
Additionally, it strengthens bilateral relations between France and Cyprus, reaffirming their joint commitment to facilitating research exchanges and cooperation in maritime and naval science and technology.
