Cyprus Opens EU Blue Card Applications on July 7: Everything You Need To Know
New opportunities for highly skilled third-country nationals in ICT, pharmaceuticals, and shipping sectors.
The Migration Department of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection announced that it will begin accepting applications for the European Union Blue Card starting Monday, July 7, 2025.
As stated in the announcement, the EU Blue Card is a residence and work permit that allows highly skilled workers from countries outside the EU and the European Economic Area (EEA) to live and work in Cyprus and other EU member states, except Denmark and Ireland.
According to the Migration Department, the EU Blue Card in the Republic of Cyprus will be granted for highly skilled employment in the sectors of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), pharmaceuticals (for research purposes only), and shipping (excluding ship captains and crew members).
The minimum gross annual salary required for the issuance of an EU Blue Card in Cyprus has been set at €43,632.
Holders of an EU Blue Card issued by the Republic of Cyprus will enjoy rights of entry, re-entry, and residence in Cyprus, access to highly skilled employment, and equal treatment with Cypriot citizens regarding working conditions, education and training, social security, and more. They will also have the right to family reunification, with residence permits of the same duration as the Blue Card holder, and the ability to accumulate periods of residence in different member states for the purpose of obtaining EU long-term resident status.
