Cyprus Signs €8 Million Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft to Enhance Digital Governance

The Agreement Involves the Provision of Microsoft 365 Licenses for 10,000 Users

The Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy has entered into an 8-million-euro Enterprise Agreement with technology giant Microsoft.

According to the Ministry's announcement, this agreement involves the provision of Microsoft 365 licenses for 10,000 users. It includes a comprehensive suite of modern tools supporting a broad range of tasks and processes.

Specifically, the deal facilitates access to services such as email, secure collaboration tools, document circulation, cloud computing services, project management tools, and the development of customized user environments for streamlined task management, among others. Beyond the supply of these licenses, the agreement also encompasses support services by Microsoft's specialized personnel and specific implementation services by Microsoft’s certified partners.

Additionally, the agreement includes training for staff members to optimize the use of these tools. This is expected to significantly contribute to upgrading the digital skills of public servants.

As noted in the announcement, this marks the first time the Cyprus Government has entered into a strategic agreement of this magnitude, with wide-ranging implications for improving public sector operations. The agreement is also anticipated to play a crucial role in the successful implementation of a flexible work framework in the public sector, an essential prerequisite of which is the utilization of collaboration tools.

“A Significant Step Towards Cyprus’s Digital Future”

Deputy Minister Nikodimos Damianou stated that signing this agreement signals the beginning of an expanded collaboration with Microsoft, which is expected to be a key contributor in fulfilling their strategic objectives. "Creating a modern, digital state that serves citizens and businesses swiftly and effectively is at the core of our governmental program," the Deputy Minister added, emphasizing the private sector's vital role in this endeavor.

From Microsoft's perspective, Gianna Andronopoulou, the Managing Director for Microsoft Greece, Cyprus, and Malta, expressed that this agreement represents a significant step towards Cyprus's digital future, enhancing public sector efficiency and improving citizen services. "It embodies our commitment to significantly contribute to the creation of an even more modern and effective state for everyone," she stated.
