Polis Latchi Museum Set to Revolutionize Cultural Tourism with High-Tech Exhibits and VR Maritime History

This July, the Polis Latchi Sea and Culture Museum, a state-of-the-art exhibition space, will open its doors in Polis Chrysochous. The project is co-funded by the Local Development Strategy of the Pafos Development Agency “Aphrodite Ltd” through the EU's Sea Operational Programmes (2014–2020 and 2021–2027), covering 85% of the funding, with the remaining 15% provided by the Polis Chrysochous Municipality.

According to the Municipality's announcement, the museum is designed around thematic exhibitions that highlight Cyprus’s maritime history and coastal heritage. It incorporates natural exhibits and models depicting the region’s coastal evolution, using cutting-edge technologies like augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), UAV mapping, and 3D printing. Visitors will also find an aquarium and immersive recreations of major local attractions.

Interactive Technology at the Core

The museum's backbone is the science of graphics and interactive technologies, offering visitors a dynamic experience through video walls, AR, and VR installations. These innovations aim to deliver an educational and visually stimulating journey through Cyprus's marine and cultural past.

This innovative attraction aims to become a reference point for the area and contribute to extending the tourist season by drawing in more visitors year-round.
