Limassol Signs €5.2M Deal for Smart Parking System
City partners with Blue Sun Automation Ltd to digitize 2,376 parking spots, aiming for traffic reduction and improved citizen experience.
The Municipality of Limassol has signed a €5.17 million agreement with Blue Sun Automation Ltd for the supply, development, installation, and maintenance of a smart parking system across the city. The contract, officially awarded under tender 10/2023, was signed on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Limassol Town Hall.
The system will cover 1,500 on-street parking spaces and 876 off-street spaces in coastal and urban areas, with a 12-month implementation period. Once operational, the system will be maintained for five years, with the option of a five-year extension.
The project will be fully integrated with the national digital platform, in coordination with the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.
In his remarks, Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis hailed the initiative as a key step toward a more functional and citizen-friendly city. “With this project, we support sustainable mobility, reduce unnecessary traffic, and contribute to our city's digital transformation,” he stated. Armeftis also thanked his predecessor and the previous municipal council for laying the groundwork for the project.
