New Building Energy Performance Calculation Software Coming to Cyprus

Call for Experts to Join Working Group Testing the New Methodology

The Energy Service of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry is developing simulation software for the new methodology of calculating building energy performance. The initiative aligns Cyprus with the EU directive on building energy efficiency and modernizes the process of issuing energy certificates.

In its announcement, the Energy Service stated it intends to form a working group of specialized experts to support the pilot phase of the new software. Interested parties are invited to submit an expression of interest to [email protected] by October 6, 2025.

The working group will:

  • Compare results of the new software with those of the existing one across different building types,

  • Test its functionality using various parameters and methodological scenarios,

  • Record potential problems in software usability and methodology application,

  • Discuss specific aspects of the methodology that are either new or significantly revised,

  • Submit proposals for improving both the methodology and the software.

The group’s work is expected to be completed within four months from its establishment. Details of operations and working methods will be determined by its members under the guidance of the Energy Service.

Participation will be limited to 15 members. If applications exceed this number, selection will be based on expertise, professional experience, and specialization category. The aim is to include experts from different technical fields under ETEK (Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber), representing diverse backgrounds and levels of professional experience.

Participation is strictly voluntary, with no financial compensation. However, members will be required to adhere to the working schedule set by the group to ensure the most effective review of the new system.
