Nostradamus Project Aims to Transform Agriculture with Real-Time Data

Coordinated by Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence and 15 Partners, Nostradamus Enhances Agricultural Decision-Making

The Nostradamus project, coordinated by the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence in collaboration with 15 partners, aims to transform the agricultural sector and beyond through improved, informed decisions made by farmers and policymakers at both national and European levels.

According to a press release, aligned with the "Farm to Fork" strategy, the Common Agricultural Policy, and the European Strategy for Data, the project will design, develop, and evaluate a scalable platform for collecting valuable information in near real-time from multiple data sources to support various agricultural applications.

Leveraging European and national multidimensional data sets, Nostradamus will create an automated pipeline for acquiring, storing, and pre-processing data.

Five Data Cubes, serving as technologies for the storage, organization, and analysis of large volumes of data, will integrate satellite data and utilize advanced technologies for their analysis.

To enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of the agricultural sector through a multi-faceted approach, Nostradamus will develop multiple open-source digital applications for farmers.

These applications will employ both edge and cloud solutions, as well as hybrid combinations, harnessing the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Earth Observation data. This ensures the effective use of these applications even in areas with weak connectivity.
