Boeing Announces Leadership Reshuffle in Wake of 737 Max 9 Issues

Ed Clark Steps Down as Head of 737 Max 9 Program, Katie Ringgold Takes the Helm

Boeing, the American aerospace giant's executives have decided to replace Ed Clark, the head of the 737 Max 9 program. This decision comes less than two months after an incident involving an Alaska Airlines aircraft, where a door detachment led to cabin depressurization shortly after taking off from Portland, Oregon.

Following this incident, all Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft in the USA were grounded pending thorough inspections. Earlier in February, it was reported that 94% of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft maintained by United Airlines and Alaska Airlines had been inspected.

"Ed Clark is leaving the company," announced the CEO of Boeing's commercial airplanes unit in a memo to employees on Wednesday (21/2), as reported by CNBC. Katie Ringgold is set to take over as the Vice President and General Manager of the 737 Max program. She will also oversee Boeing's aircraft assembly factory in Renton, Washington.

"We are announcing several changes in leadership as we continue to advance Boeing's enhanced focus on ensuring that every airplane we deliver meets or exceeds all quality and safety standards. Our customers expect, and deserve, nothing less," clarified Stanley Deal. He concluded, emphasizing, "Ed departs with my deepest gratitude and ours for his many significant contributions during nearly 18 years of dedicated service to Boeing."
