Alphamega Acquires Foody Market in Major Online Delivery Deal
Finalized on June 27, 2025, the deal is still subject to approval by the Cyprus Commission for the Protection of Competition.
Alphamega Hypermarkets has signed an agreement to acquire Foody Market, the online supermarket brand operated through Cyprus’s leading delivery platform, Foody. Finalized on June 27, 2025, the deal is still subject to approval by the Cyprus Commission for the Protection of Competition. The acquisition does not include other Foody business areas outside the online supermarket segment.
Upon completion, Foody Market will be fully integrated into Alphamega’s retail network and rebranded as Alphamega Express, strengthening the company’s presence in the rapidly growing online grocery sector. The two Foody Market stores, located in Nicosia and Limassol, will join the Alphamega Express network, continuing to fulfill supermarket orders through the Foody platform with fast delivery and an improved customer experience.
Alphamega customers will enjoy increased flexibility once the transition is complete, with the option of scheduled deliveries via the existing e-shop or instant deliveries through Alphamega Express on the Foody platform, supported by the addition of two new order fulfillment centers.
“This expansion makes us even more relevant to today’s consumer, providing immediate solutions that match a fast-paced lifestyle,” stated Alphamega CEO George Theodotou. “We see delivery not just as a choice but as an opportunity to stand by customers who may struggle with transportation or have limited time to visit physical stores.”
Foody CEO Srdjan Stankovic described the acquisition as a “milestone” for the platform, emphasizing the strengthened partnership with one of Cyprus’s most trusted retail brands. He highlighted a commitment to a smooth transition for Foody Market’s team and expressed confidence that staff would benefit from greater growth opportunities within Alphamega.
