Cyprus Cheesemakers Pledge to Protect Halloumi Exports
Their Goals Include Preserving and Further Enhancing Exports, Utilizing All Locally Produced Milk, and Maintaining Employment in the Cheesemaking Sector
The Cyprus Cheesemakers Association emphasizes the common goal of safeguarding halloumi exports while maintaining the protection of halloumi as the national product of Cyprus.
During a recent meeting between the Association's Board of Directors and the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment, Maria Panayiotou, the cheesemakers had the opportunity to present in detail their positions on halloumi-related issues. They discussed the challenges facing the industry and proposed solutions.
"We welcome the fact that from the onset of her tenure, the Minister has placed the halloumi issue high on her agenda, a commitment reaffirmed in our latest meeting," the Association notes.
The announcement further adds that there is a shared goal to protect halloumi exports, expressing satisfaction with this alignment of interests.

The Association will maintain ongoing communication with the Minister, particularly in light of decisions made in a previous meeting with the President of the Republic in early January and the upcoming meeting involving all stakeholders, to be presided over by the President.
Additionally, the Cyprus Cheesemakers Association reiterates its unwavering objective: to protect halloumi as the national product of Cyprus. Their goals include preserving and further enhancing exports, utilizing all locally produced milk, and maintaining employment in the cheesemaking sector, "all for the benefit of the country and its economy."
