Cyta Launches Search for New CEO

Applications open for Cyprus’ top telecom role, with the new CEO expected to drive innovation and strategic transformation.

The Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) has officially announced the opening of applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking the beginning of a new leadership chapter for one of Cyprus’ most important public sector organisations.

The move follows the departure of outgoing CEO Andreas Neocleous, who accepted an international offer earlier this year. Cyta is now seeking a visionary and dynamic leader to guide the organisation through its next phase of growth, innovation, and digital transformation.

According to the announcement, the role is open to individuals “with vision, strategic thinking and leadership qualities capable of inspiring and directing the organisation towards its next chapter of development.” The new CEO will play a decisive role in shaping Cyta’s strategic direction, improving efficiency, and strengthening its position as a cornerstone of technological progress within the Cypriot economy.

The appointment process will follow the Law 115/1990 governing the recruitment of general directors in public entities, while duties and qualifications are outlined in Service Plan 26/2008, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cyprus.

The CEO — the organisation’s highest operational authority — will be responsible for the effective organisation, management, and supervision of all Cyta activities, as well as for implementing the decisions of the Board of Directors.

The position is offered on a five-year private law contract, renewable once, subject to the mandatory retirement limit. The Cyta Board’s appointment must also receive Cabinet approval, which may reject it with a reasoned decision.

Candidates must hold a university or professional degree in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, Economics, Law, Business Administration, or be members of a recognized professional accounting body.

At least ten years of experience in the telecommunications sector — including five years in senior management — is required. Strong leadership, organisational, and decision-making abilities are essential, along with fluency in Greek and English (or alternatively French or German).

Applications must be submitted electronically by Monday, 8 December 2025 at 14:00, accompanied by a completed application form, CV, and all relevant supporting documents in Greek or English (or with certified translations).

Eligible candidates will undergo an assessment process conducted by an external consultant, followed by interviews with shortlisted applicants. Cyta reserves the right not to proceed with an appointment should no suitable candidate be identified.
