EAC Launches €92 Million Infrastructure Projects
Major Upgrades Underway With Eu Co-financing: Enhancing Transmission And Distribution Systems Under The 'Thalia 2021-2027' Programme
The projects are being carried out under the Cohesion Policy Programme "THALIA 2021-2027" with EU co-financing.
Co-financed projects, with a total cost of €92 million, are underway by the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC), as reported by the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
Additionally, a project for upgrading transmission lines using the reconductoring method, costing €10 million, is expected to begin.
EAC's projects have been proposed for implementation under the Cohesion Policy Programme "THALIA 2021-2027" with EU co-financing. The EU's contribution to each project amounts to 70%.
More specifically, for the Basic Regulated Activity (BRA) Transmission, the project for the "Installation and Upgrade of Transmission Substations," costing €43 million, is underway.
The "Installation and Upgrade of Transmission Substations" project includes upgrading the electrical equipment in 6 existing 132kV (thousand volts) Transmission substations, upgrading the electrical equipment in one primary substation with a nominal operating voltage of 22kV (thousand volts), and establishing a new primary substation with a nominal operating voltage of 22kV (thousand volts).
Additionally, three projects for BRA Distribution are also underway.
Specifically, the projects in progress are the development and expansion of the GIS system, costing €5 million, the development of a Fiber Optic Telecommunication Network in the Distribution System, costing €17 million, and the automation of the Distribution System and the installation of the SCADA/ADMS System, costing €27 million.
