Highest March Tourism Revenues in 23 Years

Revenue for the First Quarter of the Current Year Increased by 11.7% Compared to the Same Period in 2023.

Tourism revenue reached the highest level for the month of March in at least the last 23 years in March 2024, showing a significant increase of 15.5% compared to March last year. Revenue for the first quarter of the current year increased by 11.7% compared to the same period in 2023.

The average spending per tourist also increased by 5.3% in March 2024 compared to March 2023.

Based on the results of the Traveler Survey, published on Monday by the Statistical Service, tourism revenue in March 2024 amounted to €113.0 million compared to €97.8 million in the same month in 2023, marking the highest level of tourism revenue since March 2001, when data are available. The second highest level of tourism revenue was recorded in March 2018 with €110 million.

For the January – March 2024 period, tourism revenue is estimated at €223.3 million, compared to €200 million in the same period in 2023, showing an increase of 11.7%.

Expense Analysis

According to the Statistical Service, the average spending per tourist in March 2024 was €558.88 compared to €530.72 in March 2023, marking an increase of 5.3%.

British tourists (the largest tourist market with 31.8% of the total in March 2024) spent an average of €73.49 per day, while Polish tourists (the second largest tourist market in the specific month with 10.4% of the total) spent an average of €75.86.

Tourists from Germany (the third largest market with 9.8%) spent €98.66 per day.
