New Cyprus Business Council in Dubai Aims to Deepen Cyprus–UAE Economic Links

Focus on energy, innovation and green technologies as countries expand collaboration.

“The establishment of the Cyprus Business Council (CBC), composed of Cypriot professionals and entrepreneurs and operating under the auspices of Dubai Chambers, marks a concrete step toward further strengthening the economic bridge between Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates (UAE),” said Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry George Papanastasiou.

In his address during the founding ceremony and first General Assembly of the Council, held yesterday in Dubai on the sidelines of the Doers Summit 2025, Mr Papanastasiou added that the CBC can “provide a structured platform for businesses, investors and innovation stakeholders from both countries to connect, exchange knowledge and develop joint initiatives that promote sustainable growth, technology transfer and shared prosperity.”

The Minister explained that the goal is to deepen cooperation between Cyprus and the UAE “in sectors such as energy, innovation, green technologies, tourism, maritime services, infrastructure projects, the food and water supply chain, digital assets and digital transformation. These are areas where Cyprus and the UAE share ambitions and technical expertise, and where our cooperation can deliver regional and global impact.”

The Cyprus Business Council, comprising Cypriot professionals and entrepreneurs active in the UAE, was established by the Republic’s Trade Centre in Dubai and operates under the auspices of Dubai Chambers.

It will be headquartered in Dubai and governed by a Board of Directors, whose initial members are:

Present at the ceremony, among others, were the Executive Chairman of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority Dr Mohammed Al Zarooni, UAE Undersecretary for Economy and Tourism Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Cyprus Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Dr Nikodimos Damianou, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the UAE Meropi Christophi.
