Cypriot authorities and the Chinese consortium reached a preliminary agreement for the delivery of the FSRU "Prometheus," which will be implemented within 60 days, stated the Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, George Papanastasiou, before the parliamentary Energy Committee.
Mr. Papanastasiou mentioned that the agreement was made based on "a financial settlement," adding that certain guarantees would be reduced. He clarified that no additional funds were provided.
Regarding the 60-day period for the vessel’s delivery, Mr. Papanastasiou noted that certain actions need to be taken by both sides, such as specific certifications, to enable the vessel to set sail.
As for the jetty and the onshore infrastructure, Mr. Papanastasiou said that ETYFA has issued tenders to find a consultant specializing in completing unfinished infrastructure. He added that the consultant would be selected in the next two weeks. Subsequently, the consultant will assist ETYFA in preparing the documents for the tender to complete the terminal at Vasilikos.
