New Strategic Action Plan to Elevate the Voice of International Businesses in Cyprus

New Committees, Annual Reports, Membership Expansion, and Awards

The Cyprus International Businesses Association (CIBA) has announced a comprehensive action plan to strengthen the voice and visibility of international companies operating in Cyprus.

According to a press release, the action plan—presented by CIBA Chairman Vassilis Demetriades at the Association’s recent General Assembly—includes a series of initiatives aimed at maximizing the expertise of CIBA’s members and enhancing their presence in national policymaking.

The first initiative involves the creation of specialized committees, which will submit well-documented proposals to the CIBA Board concerning the positions, challenges, and priorities of international businesses based in Cyprus. These committees include:

  • European and International Affairs

  • Legal Affairs

  • Tax Affairs

  • Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG)

  • Digital Technology

  • Training & Upskilling

Secondly, CIBA will introduce an annual report addressed to the President of the Republic and parliamentary parties, outlining key issues faced by international businesses, along with policy recommendations based on the work of the specialized committees. The report aims to promote competitiveness and ensure long-term sustainability in the sector.

A third initiative includes expanding membership categories. In addition to the current structure, CIBA will open membership to individual professionals, startups, and micro-enterprises based on specific criteria, further encouraging diversity and inclusion within the organization.

Additionally, CIBA is launching two annual awards to recognize innovation and responsible business practices among its members: Technology Award, and Environmental, Social, and Corporate Responsibility Award (ESG Award).

These aim to highlight members who adopt best practices and contribute to sustainable development, sound governance, and strategic innovation.

Finally, CIBA announced a survey targeting international businesses to gather data on their experiences, challenges, and needs. The findings will be used to shape proposals submitted to the Government and the House of Representatives, ensuring they reflect the expectations and priorities of companies that form the backbone of the Cypriot economy.
