Christodoulides Heads to Canada to Boost International Investment Ties

On Friday, he is scheduled to meet with Prem Watsa, founder, Chairman, and CEO of Fairfax.

As part of the campaign to enhance the international image of the Republic of Cyprus as a trustworthy and appealing investment destination, President Nikos Christodoulides departs this morning for Toronto, Canada, according to a written statement by Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis.

This trip follows the President’s recent visit to the United States, aimed at attracting high-quality investments to Cyprus.

In Canada, President Christodoulides will attend an event organized by members of the Cypriot communities of Toronto on Thursday evening.

On Friday, he is scheduled to meet with Prem Watsa, founder, Chairman, and CEO of Fairfax. Later that day, he will participate in a roundtable discussion with leading business executives and investors active in the fields of finance, research, innovation, and real estate development.

On Friday evening, the President will take part in a roundtable discussion and working dinner co-organized by the France Canada Chamber of Commerce, with the participation of senior executives from major member companies of the Franco-Canadian Chamber.

Cyprus’ Economic Strengths Highlighted

According to Mr. Letymbiotis, the Republic of Cyprus is currently presented as a dynamic and resilient economy, marked by strong growth rates, robust public finances, historically low unemployment, and an upgraded credit rating to Category A by all major international rating agencies — factors that inspire confidence among international investors.

“As a full member state of the European Union and thanks to its strategic location, Cyprus offers a unique environment for investment and regional business activity,” he emphasized.

President Christodoulides is accompanied in Canada by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, the Government Spokesman, Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki, Invest Cyprus President Evgenios Evgeniou, along with senior officials.

Regarding the trilateral meeting on the Cyprus issue, the President will depart Toronto for New York on September 20, Mr. Letymbiotis added.
