Cyprus Opens Applications for 2025 Solar Water Heating Subsidy Scheme

Households can receive up to €900 for installing or replacing solar thermal systems.

The Cyprus Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Fund (RES and EEC Fund) has officially launched the 2025 subsidy scheme for the installation or replacement of domestic solar water heating systems.

The program, which was approved by the Council of Ministers over the summer with a budget of €1 million, aims to support up to 2,000 households across two categories of applicants. Funding is available for the installation of complete solar thermal systems, including both the hot water cylinder and solar panels, provided that the equipment meets the minimum technical standards.

Households applying under the General Category (H1) are eligible for a grant of €500, which increases to €900 for homes located in mountainous or disadvantaged areas. Vulnerable households (H2) are entitled to a grant of €900.

To qualify, installations must be carried out by certified professionals listed in the official Register of Participating Installers, and only pre-approved equipment from the Eligible Equipment Catalogue may be used. The requirement is intended to safeguard applicants from the risk of rejection due to ineligible components.

Applicants are reminded that pre-approval is mandatory before starting any installation works. Commencing works prior to approval automatically disqualifies an application under the scheme’s terms.

The RES and EEC Fund is also calling on industry professionals to register in the official installer register, ensuring sufficient capacity to meet demand.

Applications can only be submitted online via the Fund’s official website, where a detailed guide and instructions are also available to assist households in preparing their submissions.
