Cyprus Labor Market Hits Historic Highs

Eurostat Data Confirm Strengthening of Cyprus Labour Market

Data from the European Statistical Service (Eurostat) confirm the steady strengthening of the labour market in recent years, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Friday during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace, in Nicosia.

The employment rate of persons aged 20 to 64 in Cyprus rose to 81.3% in 2025, recording a historically high level, according to data from Eurostat, Letymbiotis noted, adding that Cyprus ranks sixth among the 27 European Union member states, with the employment rate standing 5.2 percentage points above the EU average.

According to the Government Spokesperson, this is the highest performance recorded for Cyprus in the available Eurostat annual time series for this indicator, a development which, he said, “confirms the steady strengthening of the labour market in recent years.”

He added that “this performance is particularly significant as it demonstrates that the growth path of the Cypriot economy is translating into more jobs, greater participation of citizens in the productive process and a real strengthening of social inclusion.”
