European Gas Prices Surge Up to 35%

The Dutch TTF Natural Gas Contract, Considered Europe’s Benchmark, Rose to €74 Before Slightly Easing Its Gains.

European gas prices surged by as much as 35% on Thursday after new attacks hit energy infrastructure in the Middle East, including Qatar’s main gas facility.

The Dutch TTF natural gas contract, Europe’s key benchmark, climbed to €74 before trimming some of its earlier gains.

Two waves of Iranian strikes caused “extensive damage” at Ras Laffan in Qatar, the world’s largest liquefied natural gas hub, heightening concerns over global energy supply.
