Eurostat Reports April Fuel Price Hike in Cyprus
Fuel Prices Increase by 15.6% in Cyprus in April 2026,
Cyprus recorded a 15.6% increase in prices for fuels and lubricants for personal transport in April 2026 compared with the same month in 2025, according to Eurostat data published on Friday.
At the same time, on a monthly basis, diesel prices in Cyprus rose by 18.0% between March and April 2026, while petrol recorded an increase of 8.6%.
At European Union level, prices for fuels and lubricants for personal transport increased by 20.8% in April 2026 on an annual basis, following a 12.9% rise in March. As the data indicate, up to February 2026 prices had been on a downward trend both on the EU average and in most countries.
Increases were recorded in all Member States in April, with 15 countries showing rises above 20%. The highest rates were observed in Luxembourg (+33.8%), France and Sweden (both +29.3%), Latvia (+28.1%) and Bulgaria (+27.8%). By contrast, the lowest increases were recorded in Hungary (+1.5%), Poland (+8.8%) and Italy (+12.9%).
Regarding individual fuel categories, diesel prices in the EU rose by 33.7% in April 2026 compared with April 2025, while petrol increased by 13.6%. In March, the respective increases were 19.8% for diesel and 9.4% for petrol.
On a monthly basis, from March to April 2026, diesel prices in the EU increased by 7.9%, while petrol prices rose by 2.4%.
