Increase of 2.2% in the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices

The Categories Recreation, Sports and Culture, and Transport Recorded the Highest Positive Change.

The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased by 3.0% in April 2026 compared to April 2025, while it rose by 2.2% compared to the previous month.

The categories Recreation, Sports and Culture and Transport recorded the highest positive changes.

The corresponding figure for the Eurozone for the latest month is based on a EUROSTAT flash estimate.

Compared to April 2025, the categories Recreation, Sports and Culture (6.8%) and Transport (6.7%) recorded the highest positive changes.

The largest negative changes were recorded in the categories Clothing and Footwear (-5.4%) and Information and Communication (-2.2%).

Compared to March 2026, the largest changes were recorded in the categories Transport (9.6%) and Clothing and Footwear (5.3%).

The highest change among the economic categories, both compared to April 2025 and compared to March 2026, was observed in the Energy category (8.5% and 7.5% respectively).

The individual weighting coefficients are calculated using infinite decimal places and published rounded to two decimal places. Any discrepancy in the total is due to rounding error.
