Relief at the Pump: Significant Fuel Price Drops Headed for Cyprus
Consumer Protection Service Director: Significant Fuel Price Drops Expected
The daily commute is about to get a lot cheaper. Following a steady month-long decline in global refinery costs, Cyprus is bracing for a fresh wave of retail fuel price cuts. With diesel already down an average of 13.5 cents, drivers can expect further relief in the coming days.
Significant additional cuts to retail fuel prices are expected to hit gas stations in the coming days, continuing a downward trend observed over the past month. Constantinos Karagiorgis, Director of the Consumer Protection Service, confirmed that falling global refinery prices (Platts) are directly impacting the latest fuel shipments arriving on the island.
Over the last month, Cyprus motorists have already seen a noticeable drop in costs, particularly for diesel, which plummeted by an average of 13.5 cents per litre. In contrast, 95-octane unleaded petrol saw a milder average reduction of 2.4 cents per litre during the same period, according to data from both the Consumer Protection Service and the Pancyprian Association of Gas Station Owners.
Data released by the Consumer Protection Service outlines the current average, lowest, and highest nationwide retail prices across the island:
| Fuel Type | Lowest Price | Average Price | Highest Price |
| 95-Octane Unleaded | €1.525 | €1.586 | €1.699 |
| Diesel | €1.669 | €1.739 | €1.892 |
| Heating Oil | €1.338 | €1.391 | €1.479 |
