BridgeSTEAM Program to Empower Young Women in Larnaca
Cultivating Future Female Leaders in Science and Technology
On December 9th and 10th, the third BridgeSTEAM program will be held at the Youth Makerspace Larnaka, targeting girls aged 14 to 16 years. Its mission is to bolster the presence of women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
According to an announcement, "BridgeSTEAM offers girls the chance to develop new programming skills, learn about the career prospects available in STEAM fields, and connect with female role models in Cyprus."
The program, it is mentioned, "also includes a Career Counseling Workshop to help girls understand which career choices in the STEAM world suit them best, along with an educational workshop focusing on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)."
It is added that "with more than 150 alumnae and three years of action, the team of the Girls in STEAM Academy aims for a world free of stereotypes. In 2022, four BridgeSTEAM programs were conducted over two days in three cities across Cyprus, offering girls aged 14-16 and 17-18 a unique educational experience."
Alumnae of the 2021 and 2022 programs "participated in the "TechGirls" program in the United States, took on the role of presenters in the Academy's podcast 'SheSpeaks,' and had the opportunity to explore various professional activities through 'job shadowing' at different companies and universities, both in Cyprus and abroad."
Note that the application for participation in the December program is open, and interested parties can register until November 24th. After the deadline, no applications will be accepted.
