The University of Cyprus has been ranked among the world’s top academic institutions in eight scientific fields, according to the 2024 Global Rankings of Academic Subjects by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.

The recognized fields include:

• Automation & Control

• Electrical & Electronic Engineering

• Psychology

• Environmental Science & Engineering

• Political Sciences

• Physics

• Computer Science & Engineering

• Clinical Medicine

In August 2024, the University of Cyprus also ranked among the 701-800 top universities globally, making it the only Cypriot institution included in the overall list.

The institution’s inclusion in these prestigious lists underscores its potential for further international recognition and development. It also strengthens the university’s case for introducing English-language undergraduate programs and establishing university clinics, initiatives that could significantly enhance its global presence.

The Shanghai Global Rankings evaluate universities across five scientific categories and 55 academic fields. Institutions must meet a minimum publication threshold, ranging from 25 to 200 publications depending on the field, during the evaluation period.

Publications are analyzed using a weighted model, ensuring accurate comparisons across universities and fields.
