Finance Minister Reviews First Year of Economic Policies
Mr. Keravnos Expressed Satisfaction With the Achievements Made in a Very Short Time
Finance Minister Makis Keravnos stated that the primary and planned economic policy goals for the first year of Nikos Christodoulides' governance have all been realized or are in the process of full implementation. He emphasized that "the Cypriot economy is on a healthy trajectory despite significant challenges and uncertainties."
Speaking at a press conference to review the first year of the Ministry of Finance's governance program, Mr. Keravnos expressed satisfaction with the achievements made in a very short time. "The Ministry of Finance feels that it has accomplished all its goals; we feel that significant achievements have been made within a very short period," he said.
"We continue our efforts towards an economic policy aimed at fairer distribution of income and generated wealth," he emphasized.
The Minister highlighted his "personal responsibility to maintain healthy public finances and ensure macroeconomic and financial stability through rational management of resources to improve the standard of living for every citizen."
He noted that "a significant body of work was produced in the first year of governance in a challenging economic environment."
"We continue to monitor difficulties and challenges, respond to any developments, and adopt appropriate measures within the framework of a human-centered economic policy, always within our capabilities, and always with a focus on fiscal discipline and financial stability, because memories are still fresh of what happened when these fundamental parameters were exceeded," he underscored.
According to Minister Keravnos, the vision is "to continuously enhance the resilience of our economy in conditions of fiscal and financial stability, leveraging the comparative advantages of our economy and our significant human resources. Through a human-centered economic policy, we aim to improve the prosperity of our society and protect vulnerable groups."
