Loan disbursements from international financial organizations have reached €92.75 million so far in 2024, according to information from the Public Debt Management Office (PDMO).
These disbursements currently represent 66% of the total borrowing from international organizations budgeted for this year, which amounts to €140 million.
Specifically, according to the PDMO, a loan amount of €32.75 million was disbursed on May 25 from the Council of Europe Development Bank (fixed interest rate of 3.250%), and two loans of €30 million each were disbursed from the European Investment Bank (EIB) on July 8 and July 22 respectively (fixed interest rates of 3.136% and 3.196% respectively). All three bilateral loans have a ten-year duration.
It is noted that these disbursements are covered by the Annual Financing Program for 2024, approved by the Minister of Finance, which stipulates that total borrowing from bilateral loans will amount to up to €140 million, corresponding to approximately 10% of the annual financing needs, which total €1.3 billion.
