UK Introduces Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for Short-Term Visitors

The United Kingdom has announced the introduction of an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system for visitors traveling for holidays, short-term studies, business trips under six months, or using the "Creative Work" visa.

According to Cyprus's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cypriot citizens traveling to the UK for these purposes will need an ETA starting April 2, 2025. Applications can be submitted via the "UK ETA" app or online from March 5, 2025, with a fee of £10.

Once approved, the ETA is valid for multiple trips over a two-year period or until the passport’s expiry, whichever comes first. If a new passport is issued, a new ETA application will be required.

Travelers visiting the UK for long-term work or study purposes will still require specific entry permits or visas and will not need an ETA.
