Cyprus Shelters: Inspiring Compassion Through Action

Volunteers and Local Support Unite to Make a Difference for Abandoned Animals.

The work and dedication of volunteers supporting shelters that host abandoned and abused animals are more than essential. Their efforts often go unnoticed, despite involving countless hours of assistance, challenging rescue cases, tough conditions for daily care, and unwavering commitment.

A recent visit by a team of volunteers from the United Kingdom deserves special mention. They traveled to Cyprus to offer their services free of charge to shelters such as SPDC Saving Pound Dogs Cyprus, Athienou Municipality Dog Shelter, Dali Dog Rescue, and Simba Animal Aid Cyprus.

The Stronger Together Animal Rescue and The Healing Animal team, consisting of 10 volunteers, stayed in Cyprus for six days, during which they provided treatments and care for more than 400 dogs. Undoubtedly, the volunteers' support fosters a better community while inspiring and motivating animal lovers to continue fighting for animal rights.

The contribution of the Lordos Beach Hotel in Larnaca, especially its manager, Mr. Nikolaos Kirkillaris, was also significant. Recognizing the volunteers' efforts to provide invaluable services to the shelters and driven by his own love and sensitivity towards stray animals, Mr. Kirkillaris offered the UK team complimentary full accommodation, covering all lodging and meal expenses at the hotel. This gesture exemplifies the importance of social contribution, demonstrating understanding and respect—values that are especially crucial in today’s world.

How You Can Help:

Adopt: If you’re considering adding a pet to your family, think about adopting from a local shelter.

Donate: Donations help cover daily operational costs, supplies, medical needs, and more.

Volunteer: Duties include caring for the dogs, walking them, and more.

Foster: Fostering is crucial—without a strong network of foster providers, shelters and rescue groups wouldn’t be able to take in so many animals.
