Erica Photiou on the Magic of Simple Moments and the Power of Imagination
“Catch me… in Paris.”
Two Eleven Dance Studio presents the dance performance “Catch me… in Paris”, a magical journey to the City of Light, inspired by the film The Red Balloon. Through contemporary, ballet, jazz, and modern dance, the performance highlights the magic hidden in everyday moments and invites us to experience the world through a more dreamy, childlike perspective.
On the occasion of the performance, co-founder of Two Eleven Dance Studio, Erica Photiou, shares her perspective on the concept, her personal connection to dance, and the inspiration behind her creative process.
For me, the concept of the performance is a reminder that magic exists in the simplest things in life. I see it as a journey back to childlike innocence, imagination, and our ability to dream.
Dance has the power to tell stories without words and to create images and emotions that each person can interpret in their own way. Through this performance, every audience member can connect with the story and remember how important it is to keep our imagination alive, regardless of age.
My love for dance began at the age of three. Since then, it has been a way of expression and creation for me, and today, through teaching, I continue to share this passion with my students.
For me, dance is… emotions.
An evening filled with music and dance that will transport the audience to the dreamy city of Paris and evoke feelings of optimism.
Creative expression is often born through improvization, inspired by social themes, everyday life, emotions, and human relationships. In this way, each choreography becomes a unique composition of ideas and feelings.
My emotions are closely connected to modern dance, which I started at a very young age, as well as contemporary dance, which I later pursued in my studies. I feel fortunate to have both in my life, as they inspire me every day.
