Medieval Ceramics: From Fashion to Electronic Visuals
Cypriot heritage entered a new era as designer and visual artist Michalis Pantelidis and Fractal Magus revealed a unique audiovisual collaboration for the Afternoon Project’s 5th-year anniversary in Nicosia.
Inspired by Medieval Age Cypriot ceramics from the Pierides Museum, Pantelidis transformed centuries-old artefacts into modern digital collages. Initially reimagined as silk scarves within his fashion practice, these visuals were further developed into immersive electronic projections, merging heritage with contemporary nightlife energy.
As electronic beats pulsed through the venue, medieval motifs and archaeological fragments moved dynamically across the space—creating a powerful fusion of culture, technology, and fashion-rooted creativity. This collaboration introduces a fresh way of bringing Cypriot history closer to younger audiences through a visual language that feels modern, engaging, and culturally relevant.
“For me, reimagining medieval ceramics through digital art bridges heritage and the future,” says designer and visual artist Michalis Pantelidis. “It’s a way to bring our culture to the youth in a new and inspiring form.”
This project marks an exciting intersection of art, fashion, heritage, and electronic music, highlighting the potential of Cyprus’ cultural identity in contemporary creative spaces.
